Iam 31 and 14 years ago i had the viral infection meningitis, since then i have never been myself...i had shingles 2 years immune system was shot to bits and i don't think it ever fully recovered. I have spent most of then every possible minute sleeping and completely exhausted. I actually think its getting a little depressing now that when i am awake i have no motivation and simple tasks are becoming a real chore or not getting done. I work part time...but have recently had time off or left early because in so tired. I will sleep a good 4hr siesta in the day wake for abit and sleep again for another 2. At night i have 10-12 hrs sleep. I literally am sleeping my life away and im getting worse. My wrist has started to body is just done in. IM being referred to a specialist...what will they do? Ive been reading the forum here...this seems very helpful.

Hi treackle

My CFS/ME followed shingles too in June last year.  I was a full time qualified nurse after 9 months off and learning how to pace myself I have managed to go back to two days a week as a care assistant but am able to do very little on my days off.

Specialists seem to vary.  Mine just confirmed my diagnosis and checked my GP had checked my bloods.

It doesn't sound like lack of motivation to me it sounds like you just have no energy left to do anything else. Would you be able to take some time off work?  It sounds like the only thing you can cut out is work but you may find an activity diary helpful.
